Police Commemoration Day

Police Commemoration Day was observed in the Reserve PoliceParade Ground at Koraput today . Sushant Nath , DIG of South-Easternregion , addressing the members from Koraput District Police ,Indian Reserve Battalion and OSAP 3rd Battalion said that the role ofpolice in safeguarding the interest of the common men was commendable.Many policemen had lost their lives to protect the society from themiscreants , he added .Paying tributes to the 701 police personnel from across the countrywho had sacrificed their lives during the last one year, he read outtheir names .This day was being observed since 1959 in memory of the 10 CRPF menwho had lost their lives while fighting the intruders from China atthe boarder, he said . A ceremonial parade was organized by thethree forces before paying floral tributes to the departed souls
