Celebrating Navy Week with children was an altogether different experience for Lt.Commandant Hemant Walia and his colleuges in Naval Armament Inspectorate at Sunabeda today .Distributing drawing sheets to the children and then describing the importance of the topics given as a part of the drawing competitions had brought the feeling of being the teachers of the children at least for some time .
Topics like “Our culture and festival” , “Tree plantation and benefits of forestation” , “Water conservation/benefits of forestation” , “Prevention of HIV/AIDS” and “Conservation of national heritage” provided the 248 children who had reached from different parts of the district ample opportunity to think and translate their thoughts using their artistic skills .
While Kendriya Vidyalaya of NAD , Sunabeda claimed this year’s rolling shield by winning the maximum number of prizes , the consolation from Wing Commander Jogesh Tripathy brought new hopes for children . Everyone who attempts to participate in competitions was a winner , he said while addressing the children as the chief guest of the function .
Moreover the presence of children from Deaf&Dumb school of Sunabeda and child reporters from across the district gave special flavour to the celebration creating a different world for the children where they interacted among each other using different modes of communication . Presence of K.Raja , GM, NAD, D.V.Ramakrishna , Principal , KV, NAD encouraged the children to feel the caring hands of adults .
