I do not have literary interests, I consist of literature ,I am nothing else and can not be anything else’. These immortal words of the world famous writer ,Franz Kafka had attracted appreciations from the renowned writer of the state , Narayana Panda while celebrating Kafka’s evening at Koraput on Thursday evening to mark the 125th birth anniversary of the great writer .While it was for the first time that any meeting or workshop was organized on Kafka’s writing in the district , poets and writers from all across the district keenly participated in discussing on his life and writings .
Each of the words and phrases that Kafka had used in his writings like ’she is trying to smile through her tears..’ were sufficient enough to understand the powerful applications that Kafka had made in his literary creations ,Narayana Panda added. Moreover quoting from the observations made on Kafka by eminent writers of the present world like Milan Kundera , he said that Kafka’s diaries were full of stories that peter out after a page or less and self-reproaches at his inability to write . Not only was successfully writing an intensely pleasurable experience , but writing had enabled Kafka to gain distance from the painful events in his life, he added. Moreover the piece of writing from Kafka which said ’Don’t despair , not even over the fact that you don’t despair .Just when it seems that all is over , new forces come to your assistance after all , and just that means that you were alive’ forced the members present to take a decision to organize more talks on Kafka to generate better understanding on the immensely powerful writings of the great writer . A book exhibition on the writings of Kafka was organized on the occasion
