Production in the mining & refinery complex of NALCO at Damanjodi would come to a standstill within the next three days if coal does not reach in time .According to the company sources , with insufficient coal supplies to Nalco from MCL and SECL collieries of Coal India Limited over the last four months , the coal stock has reached at a meager 6600 MT from a regular level of a minimum 50,000 MT of coal in the plant .The plant has received at least 30 rakes of coal less than an usual supply through rail from these companies . While ruling out the possibilities of any conflict between NALCO and the coal suppliers , the sources blamed the preferential approach of the coal supply units which was keeping NALCO at its lowest level of preference

A meeting for the proper implementation of the programme was held in the DRDA conference hall at Koraput today . While strategies for reaching each of the beneficiary at the nearest possible place were made ,it was decided to make 248 distribution centers operational for distributing the rice in two phases , one in the first week and the other in the fourth week of every month .
